Atty. Galacio,

Do Independent Fundamental Baptists here in the Philippines cooperate with the Reformed Baptists like the people from the Cubao Reformed Baptist Church (www.cubaorbc.org)? Thanks. :-)

Albert,

This blog is a companion tool of my www.familymatters.org.ph website and, through the directory of Baptist churches, is primarily meant to help people find churches in their place of work or residence. I have not presented myself as an expert on Baptist churches in the Philippines, and I therefore would not be able to tell you as to what churches or pastors are in fellowship with other churches and pastors. You would have to address your question to specific pastors. As a Christian lawyer, my burden and desire is to help, in terms of legal counseling and seminars, all Baptist pastors and churches whatever their grouping, affiliation or fellowship may be. I hold on to what Philip Melancthon (or was it Zwingli?)said centuries ago, "In essential things, unity; in doubtful things, liberality; but in all things, charity." It's truly sad that Baptists who may agree on the essentials are oftentimes in bitter conflict with other Baptists in some areas of their theology or practice. I do understand however that it is sometimes the price we have to pay in "contending for the faith."

The original version of the quote you mentioned is from Augustine of Hippo though you gave a modified version of it. Thank God for your balanced view on Biblical separation. We ought to separate ourselves from liberal and ecumenical churches without practicing extreme separatism which, unfortunately, has become the norm in many Fundamental Baptist churches. I believe that most Fundamental Baptist pastors, Filipino or otherwise, would totally disagree with your position and my position. Thanks.
